SBI Early Career Webinar Series II

Studies have demonstrated that early career radiologists are most prone to the symptoms of burnout. This subset of radiologists faces unique challenges as they embark on their careers. Many resident and fellowship curricula lack dedicated education on relevant early career topics. This webinar series will provide those newly entering the field of breast imaging with tools to effectively navigate the early career years, fill individual knowledge gaps, create a sense of community, and increase engagement in SBI-- all of which are known to mitigate burnout.

We strive to provide a program that will strengthen the foundation for a successful career in breast imaging. This webinar series expands upon 2023's inaugural Early Career Webinar Series by offering an additional four webinars recorded for on-demand viewing:

This webinar will provide strategies to help you identify and prioritize high-value opportunities, maximizing your early career potential.

Communication Skills and Working with a Multidisciplinary Team: Katerina Dodelzon, MD, FSBI

Description: Effective communication is crucial in breast imaging for both patient-centered care and leading multidisciplinary teams. It is a key modifiable factor in reducing healthcare disparities and improving patient outcomes, as well as supporting radiologists' well-being. In this webinar, Dr. Dodelzon will explore the impact of effective patient-radiologist communication, share evidence-based strategies for patient-centered encounters throughout the breast imaging care continuum, and offer guidance on leading multidisciplinary teams. Attendees will learn how to enhance communication in challenging situations and apply these strategies in their own practices.

Maintaining Breast Community Involvement in Private Practice: Bennett Battle, MD and Randy Miles, MD, FSBI

Description: Navigating life as a new radiology graduate in private practice comes with numerous challenges. For breast imagers, these challenges are often amplified by shortages in breast imaging staffing and mounting clinical volumes. Therefore, it is easy to forgo pursuit of professional goals outside of clinic practice due to competing demands. This webinar will offer tangible solutions to maintaining a meaningful connection to the breast community and finding fulfillment in your career outside of clinical practice in areas of community service, research, and education.

Burnout Recognition, Prevention, and Management: Martha Mainiero, MD, FSBI

Description: Radiologists are at high risk for burnout, which has many negative implications for physician wellness and patient care. This webinar will review the causes and manifestations of this psychological syndrome, including statistics about burnout in breast radiologists. SBI Webinar: Identification and Pursuit of High Value Endeavors

Description: When radiologists transition out of residency, they will have many new opportunities available to them. It is very easy to get involved in a wide range of activities that quickly fill a radiologist’s administrative/academic time.
