Many radiologists are unfamiliar the appropriate imaging recommendations for transgender patients nor the diversity of this patient population. Due to this lack of knowledge, many breast imaging facilities do not know how to identify risks and rationales when recommending imaging nor how to provide a welcoming environment for transgender patients which may adversely affect patient compliance with future screening.
